Project 1: Preliminary Studies
Project 1: Preliminary Studies
comprises of three components: Site Documentation, Site Analysis, and Precedent Studies of Urban Blocks and Community Centre.
the site context is area covering jalan tukang and jalan sulaiman, old towan kajang.
proposal is for the communities there, rather an individual client.
the analysis is to be done through the lens of the chosen urban theory; mine was the morphological dimension.
and there are three urban situations, one of which should be chosen as the main focus and consideration for the objective of the community centre.
the situation i have chosen is "Community Centre for the urban youth and the skill-set", where bridging the gap between the young and old, and tackle the issue of displacement.

from the preliminary studies on the context of the urban block site, while addressing the urban street context and user behavioral patterns, we have to design a community centre.
besides creating a narrative on the architectural strategy, we have to incorporate the considerations of structural, spatial, functional and environmental aspects that takes on users' needs for a community centre.
this includes the legislative restrictions that impact an architectural scheme, whilst integrating lighting and acoustic design, as well as the design exploration and detailing of the façade and building envelopes that is coherent with the architectural language of the overall design project.
said project also concurrently takes on a deeper integration with another module: building services.
before the final submission, we had a few interim presentations too.
